Notre-Dame de Paris Truss Project/ Model of La Foret
This was an immersive workshop centered on constructing a scale model of a section of the Notre Dame de Paris roof structure. Hands-on collaboration to explore how this medieval architectural icon was originally constructed. To start the project, Handshouse Studio went over many architectural drawings where some were created by Rémi Fromont. It was an experience where we used only hand tools and joinery to get a little sense of what it was like to build the original structure, but on a smaller scale. The size we were working on was a 10:1 scale model. We focused on building Truss #6 and got the chance to reassemble what had already been build from previous workshops done by Handshouse Studio. Model was on display at the Lamar Dodd School of art Atrium (University of Georgia) as a work in progress exhibition on October 4, 2022.
